About the Founder
David launched Scientext® in 2013 to offer objective, high-quality services directly to design professionals across Canada. David brings highly respected skills and significant senior experience to his work. Comprehensive leadership, collaboration, technical and problem-solving skills developed over a 35+ year career in senior positions for leading historic restoration, architectural and engineering firms and the public sector.
Extensive knowledge of specifications, building technologies, quality control, and commercial contracts, with projects increasing in complexity from the multi-millions to the multi-billions of dollars over the course of his career. David has an expert skill level in preparing contract documents for public-private partnerships, design-build, construction management, unit price, and stipulated price project delivery methods. Incisive performance and output specifications.
Experience specifying and administrating multiple building types, from conception to completion, including institutional, commercial, government, office, high-rise, multi-use, recreational and sports, retail, restaurants, light industrial and warehouse, condominiums, mass public rail transit, tunnelling, building rehabilitation and historic restoration.

Knowledge and Skills: continuously enriches and develops knowledge and skills by actively participating in learning opportunities, including: Effective Implementation and Practical Applications of Infection Control During Construction, Renovation and Maintenance of Health Care Facilities, Fundamentals of Infection Control During Construction, Renovation and Maintenance of Health Care Facilities, Preparing the Infection Control Plan for New Health Care Construction Projects – Using CSA Z317.13:22, 7-module 30-hour Lean Construction Education Program (LCEP) developed by the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC), four 40-hour assessment-based invigilated courses developed by Construction Specifications Canada (CSC); programs and seminars offered by the Construction Association of Nova Scotia (CANS), including their 10-module Construction Law Program; seminars and courses offered by other entities related to the construction industry. Learning is ongoing with continuous research and study, and participation in leading industry workshops and classes every year.

University of Manitoba / University of Winnipeg Joint Master’s Program Master of Arts (M.A.), GPA 4.0; Positions/Activities/Awards: Sessional Instructor and lecturer, Teaching Assistant, Research Assistant. Awarded Donald V. Snider Fellowship in two consecutive years for academic excellence, gave several public lectures by invitation, developed and taught eight-week special interest course. Presented a well‑received academic paper to the Learned Societies Conference in Ottawa.
